Start workbench jobs from Slack or Microsoft Teams

Chatbots let people start a workbench job by @mentioning a bot in Slack or Microsoft Teams. The bot reads the message, runs a job, and replies in the same channel.

This is separate from the Slack and Microsoft Teams entries under Messaging. Those tools are what the agent calls during a job to post or read messages. A chatbot is the conversation that starts the job.

Capabilities

  • Slack — receive @mentions and channel messages over Socket Mode, then reply in the bound channel.
  • Microsoft Teams — receive @mentions through a Bot Framework messaging endpoint, then reply in the bound channel.

Setup

Console shows an inline setup guide while you create a chatbot connection. Follow that guide for the app credentials and channel binding.
